Oliver McEwan installs Core 47 and Core Sub in the studio

Oliver McEwan is a producer, musical director and bass player based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Among other things he has been the musical director on numerous TV shows, including the Danish edition of The X Factor, laid down bass lines on tracks for Aloe Blacc and Kylie Minogue, as well as producing countless Danish artists in the studio.

We had the privilege of being in the room as Oliver installed a new Core 47 and Core Sub 2.1 monitoring system in his studio. The overall ‘Dynaudio sound’ would not be new to Oliver, as he has been using an AIR system for the past 8 years – yet he was very excited to find out what had happened in the meantime, as we moved on from AIR to the new Core series of studio monitors.

Would there be a noticeable difference? If yes, how much?

As it turned out, Oliver’s immediate reaction says it all: “I made the vast mistake of opening up two of my old mixes. And I should not have done that… It’s so revealing that I want to remix those tracks!”
